This year's July issue of Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara magazine announced on Saturday that kakifly will launch a new K-ON! manga titled K-ON! Shuffle in the August issue on July 9.
The preview features the taglines "A new musical movement, the performance begins" and "The lead this time plays drums!?"
kakifly's original four-panel comedy manga follows a group of high school girls who form an afterschool rock band. The original manga ran from 2007 to 2010 and had four compiled volumes. kakifly then resumed the manga in 2011 with two sequels: K-ON! College, which follows the characters who graduated and moved on to college, and K-ON! highschool, which follows the characters still in high school. Both manga ended in 2012. Yen Press published all of the manga in North America.
The four-panel manga inspired two television anime series from Kyoto Animation in 2009 and 2010. It also received an anime film in 2011.
